Luxury Holiday Accommodation in the Carmarthenshire Countryside, West Wales
Step away from everyday life and relax in sumptuous surroundings on the edge of Bannau Brycheiniog, the Brecon Beacons National Park. Black Mountain Escapes offers elegant, luxury cottages in stunning countryside, where we’ve paid careful attention to the smallest details to ensure your memories last long after your holiday ends.
Stay in Gablebach, a 17th century stable and groom’s loft, where each piece of vintage and antique furniture has been thoughtfully chosen to create a boutique retreat. Or snuggle up in Y Golchdy, a former laundry room converted into a bespoke cabin, with spectacular views over the Black Mountain and its very own hot tub.
The holiday cottages are set in the Tywi Valley in Carmarthenshire - where a campaign is underway for a designated area of outstanding natural beauty - Black Mountain Escapes nestles in the picturesque village of Llangadog between the country towns of Llandeilo and Llandovery. A short stroll from three pubs, a shop, Post Office and butcher’s, the cottages overlook the river Tywi, which is a tranquil place to skim stones or dip your toes on a hot day! The lovely towns of Llandovery and Llandeilo, with their coffee shops, bars, restaurants, shops and galleries, are five miles away, while Llyn y Fan Fach, home to the legendary ‘lady of the lake’, and the majestic Mynydd Du (the Black Mountain) are also close by.
Our holiday cottages offer the ideal base for anyone who loves the outdoors, with walks from the door, hiking, fishing, cycling and riding. You can even bring your own horse and make full use of our stables!

About Us
Ruth and Eirian are a Welsh couple; Eirian was born in Llangadog and Ruth was born in Cardiff. They have owned the smallholding since 2018 and Y Golchdy was originally a place to wash the weekly laundry and a renovation project for Ruth’s father, as a place to visit and stay and enjoy the countryside. Gablebach was originally a stable and hayloft, although the hayloft was renovated in 1987 as a groom's flat. Gablebach can be found on the census as far back as the 1600s as there were two cottages located next to the stables which were probably demolished in the 1970s. We retained the old original name as many of the properties in and around Llangadog have names dating back many centuries. The property remains a place of historical importance because of the Castell which was destroyed in 1209. We want to share our home and welcome visitors to stay in the beautiful Tywi Valley.
