Luxury cabin with hot tub in Carmarthenshire
Y Golchdy
Translating as ‘the Old Laundry Room’, Y Golchdy is a single-storey brick building built in 1909 and formerly used to wash all the laundry from the main house.
Surrounded by undulating countryside and enjoying an elevated position over the Tywi Valley, with glorious views towards the Black Mountain (Mynydd Du), Y Golchdy retains the original fireplace and oak beams. Although small, it is perfectly formed and fully equipped with everything you need - including a hot tub - for a luxury cabin holiday in Carmarthenshire.
The country-style kitchen was hand built by local builder Adrian Thomas and the worktop is made from old chapel pews! The original brick fireplace has a wood-burning stove and, with full insulation, the cottage makes for a delightfully cosy winter retreat. Y Golchdy also has an antique sofa and a double cabin bed hand-built from reclaimed timber from Llangadog railway station, while the window above the bed is ideal for gazing up at Carmarthenshire's Dark Skies. .
The adjoining bathroom, accessed via a covered outdoor veranda, has a modern vibe, with a power shower, fluffy towels, bathrobes and slippers. The veranda itself is the perfect spot for breakfast and barbecues, with wicker chairs to settle back into and enjoy those spectacular views.
